The students of St. John’s Middle School sure have the right spirit of Christmas! In the hope of giving back to our community, they managed collecting toys and other items for a local Waterloo charity. The students put up posters around the school and spread the need for donations through word of mouth among their peers, and managed collecting enough stuff that needed to be loaded into two vans! Not only did fellow Middle School students donate, but so did High School students who recognized this great effort.
The donations were collected and sieved through. Then, they were stored in durable trash bags or large cartons, for easy transportation. Some students from the Middle School Student Council, along with the sponsor, a parent volunteer and a coach arranged the donations into the vans on Wednesday morning. The students were excited to be pitching in and happily posed for pictures. They then delivered the goods and even made up the reception hall with Christmas decorations made by Advisory classes.
We are very proud of our students’ attitude and spirit this holiday season!
