Welcome to our new teachers and staff!

We are excited to welcome and introduce to you our new teachers and staff members who started today:

Kathleen van Crombrugge –  EAL in the Middle and High School: I am a Belgian national (Flemish) who is also proudly South African. I have over 25 years of teaching experience, and a number of years as a TEFL facilitator in the corporate world and privately.

Indira Khara – Community Engagement Coordinator: I was born in Antwerp and moved to India a few years later. I got a dual degree in Communications and English, at the University of Texas, Austin.  After some years of working in corporate America and then in India, I moved back to Belgium with my husband and decided to settle here long term.

Christine Deloyer – Receptionist: I am a native Belgian, from the Ardennes. I have also lived in Scotland, London, Switzerland and Connecticut, but am now back in Belgium since 7 years. In the past, I have taught French and Astronomy. I am married with five children.

Karen Ip – Grade One Teacher: I am originally from London and have taught in independent and international schools in London and Hong Kong. My experience ranges from teaching 12-month olds all the way through to the upper primary levels. I hold a BA (Hons) degree from Middlesex University and have completed a PGCE in Multilingual classrooms.

Kinga Rytel – ES Music Teacher: I am Polish and was born and brought up in Warsaw. I trained as a music teacher at the Brussels Dalcroze Institute. I have taught music at the British School in Tervuren and the BISB in Brussels. I am married to an Englishman and have 3 children.

Pascale Assémat – Enrolment & Relationship Manager: I am a French national born in Belgrade (Serbia) from a French father and a Serbian mother and grew up in China, Algeria, Norway, Belgium and Ireland. I hold a Master’s in Business Administration from ICHEC Business School Brussels and I studied for TEFL whilst I was at home with my 2 children.

Haley Kallenberg – Visual & Performing Arts Director: I was born and raised in Alaska. I began studying piano at age three and took up composing. I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. I have worked in arts education, promotion and administration. I am an accredited teacher of the IBDP and taught IB music for four years in Dubai.

Linus Beni – Dual Language Teacher: I grew up in Brussels. I have taught 3rd and 5th grade, coordinated school trips to France, was the summer camp director and was in charge of the intern program for many years at our school in Minnesota. Before becoming a teacher, I was a travel agent. I have 2 daughters who are now in college in the U.S.

Sarah Lichtwardt – ES Classroom Teacher: I am from Colorado Springs, Colorado in the U.S. I am a certified K-6 elementary teacher with a Master’s Degree in Reading.  I have spent the past 2 ½ years teaching Grade 4 at the International School of Ulm/Neu-Ulm in Southern Germany.  Before moving to Germany, I was teaching at a public PYP school in Colorado Springs.

Alexandra (Allie) Boram – ES Classroom Teacher: Originally from Maryland, I studied Early Childhood Education and I am certified from birth through third grade. I taught pre-school for a year and a half right out of college, and this is my third year teaching kindergarten.

Julia Shewry – MS/HS Learning Resources: I am originally from near Oxford in the U.K., but have have been in Belgium for the last 23 years. I worked as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher at the European School in Brussels, and I previously taught English in a Belgian school for students with learning difficulties. I have a degree in History from Cambridge University, where I also completed my P.G.C.E.

Christiane Baracat – MS French teacher: I grew up in a family with parents who traveled a lot. I have been a teacher for twenty years, starting with the teaching of French at the American International School in Budapest, Hungary. I have also taught at the ‘Lycée Français de Budapest’ for sixteen years. I taught French and Drama at the American International School in Cairo.

Betsy Sutherland – Middle School/ High School Technology Integration Specialist: I am originally from Charleston, South Carolina in the U.S., but I have also lived and worked abroad in South Africa, Germany, and Brazil. In the past I have worked as a teacher and instructional coach. I have completed my doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Molly Saunders – ES English as an Additional Language teacher: I have taught EAL for 10 years in Minneapolis, Minnesota metropolitan area. I am qualified as a K-12 EAL teacher and also received a B.A. in Japanese and an M.Ed. in Second Languages and Cultures Education, both from the University of Minnesota. I spent two years as an assistant language teacher at a high school in Amagasaki, Japan.
