This past Friday, St. John’s hosted TEDx “The Sustainable Future” on the future of sustainable energy. The event, in partnership with the European Commissioner for Energy, Accenture, the Royal Society of Chemistry and Amcham, featured an impressive list of speakers from across the sustainable energy spectrum. The event was live streamed globally and videos of the talks will be available soon at http://www.tedxsustainable.com.

We received many positive comments from attendees about the quality of the speakers and their talks, the diversity of the audience, the presence of the student racing team with their world record breaking race car, and the TESLA test drives that were available to all attendees.

Simultaneously, our IB science teachers held a workshop for 20 students from 6 different schools in Belgium and The Netherlands. The students were selected based on ideas submitted for a new renewable energy product. The student who submitted the best idea spoke to the adult audience in the theater at the end of the event and impressed with her innovative idea and mature presentation.
